Mrs. Oh Mak Duk lost a son in the Korean War. While she was on a site in San Pedro California, a photographer snapped her photo in this pose. Bob Mills of the Korean War Memorial Foundation in Los Angeles commissioned this bronze. The sculpture placed in the top five of a Korean War Memorial Competition in Washington State.
